Fun (and stupid) facts.

Fact #1: Between the years 2004 and 2022 (19 years), I collected a total of 73 movie collections

Fact #2: In 2023 and 2024 (2 years), I more than doubled the size of my collection by adding an additional 86 movie collections, giving me a grand total of 159 movie collections.

Fact #3: Including duplicates, I have 3945 movies, 1614 episodes (TV or theater shorts), and 1602 cartoons or commercials.

Fact #4: I am working through my older collections to figure out the actual unique movies, the actualy run time of the movies on the discs (the running time is noted on the disc or sleeve but is often incorrect), to update the checklist into the standard format, to photograph each collection, and to add to my movies blog.  I still have 62 movie collections to do.

That is all for the moment.  I honestly don't have much of the movie collection bug any more.  Occasionally, I pass by a some DVDs in a store and maybe half of the time do I even bother to look through what's there, and even when I do I only look for a few seconds before my brain tells me that I have enough movies and there's likely nothing of interest to me.

I have a couple of other projects at the moment in my current order of importance.:

Project #1: One project is what I call the '1972 Plus!' project.  A previous project of mine was to get every song which was in the Billboard Hot 100 in the year 1972.  I accomplished that goal and am quite happy with how it turned out.  I had found the single version of each song and had mastered the MP3 I had found so that they were all at approximately the same loudness level.  The 1972 Plus project is an extension of that.  Initially, I was simply going to get every song that appeared on the weekly Billboard Bubbling Under chart (which is a chart for the singles that didn't quite make it to the Hot 100 for that week) in the year 1972 but never made it into the Hot 100 in 1972.   However, then I decided I would throw in the Cash Box Top 100 charts (their version of the Hot 100), the Cash Box Looking Ahead (their version of Bubbling Under), the Record World Top 100 chart (their version of the Hot 100), and the Record World Top 101-150 chart (their version of Bubbling Under).  So now the scope is a bit ridiculous.

I started working through the Bubbling Under charts and can already tell it is going to be a bit of work.  This is because the songs that I am collecting are the ones which never made it into the Hot 100 in the year 1972, so the majority of them are songs which probably didn't get much airplay and therefore didn't have many copies pressed (save for some songs which were in the Hot 100 in 1971 and were on their way out or were in the on their way up and would eventually make it into the Hot 100 in 1973).

Project #2: Another project I have is to collect live concerts which occurred on my birthday, regardless of the year.  I believe I have, for the most part, finished gathering all that I could find with some effort.   Now that I have them all gathered, I am in the process of 'mastering' them all which involves (converting FLAC to 320KB MP3, which I know is sacrilege but it's only for my use people), naming all the MP3s in a standard way, naming the albums in a standard way, creating album art for those that don't already have it, and attaching album art to the MP3s.  I have collected somewhere in the area of 1000 concerts between the years 1954 and now.   I have only mastered 81 of them (which is more than I thought I had done, so I guess that's good news?).

Project #3: The final ongoing project is what I mentioned before, going through my older movie collections and re-doing the checklists that I had created for them so that they are in a standard format and so I can truly determine which movies were unique to my collection at the time they were purchased and update the true running time for each movie (so I can get the true unique movie count and true total running/viewing time for my collection).

That's all folks, for the moment.   Have a good one, whoever you are!
